This year’s Emmys were memorable, to say the least. Not only did Zendaya snatch the award for best lead actress, becoming the youngest person to win an Emmy, but the popular TV sitcom Schitt’s Creek also made waves by stealing half the awards for the night. Dan Levy, who plays David Rose in the show, decided to pay tribute to his character by rocking an unexpected, yet gorgeous, outfit for the event.
Dan Levy Celebrated With the Schitt’s Creek Cast
Although the 2020 Emmy awards ceremony was a virtual one, the cast of the comedy series decided to celebrate it together at a safe party in Toronto, Canada. The actor made history when he and his father, Eugene Levy, who plays Johnny Rose in the popular comedy series, became the first father-son duo to win an Emmy in the same year.
The pair co-wrote and co-starred in the show, with Eugene winning for outstanding lead actor in a comedy series, while Dan Levy won for outstanding writing, directing, and support-acting for a comedy series. That’s a lot of Emmys!
The eagle-eyed Schitt’s Creek fans won’t have seen this outfit for the first time. Mostly because Dan already wore it in black as David Rose, in his wedding ceremony to fiancé Patrick in the final episode of the show (spoiler alert). Arguably, one of the best moments of the entire show.
Dan Levy’s Emmy suit was designed by Thom Browne, who also designed the suit for David’s wedding. And, because of pandemic reasons, the grey version of the outfit came with a matching face mask in grey. Due to the virtual setting of this year’s award show, the nominees had the freedom of choice when it comes to outfits. They could glam it up or keep it casual and tune in from their pajamas. It’s awesome that Dan decided on the first, eh?
